As I am reading through the assigned readings, I am very interested in the idea of writing about your name. If my teacher had me write about my name, I could have wrote a whole book. I love my name. I love everything about it. I really find it interesting how many people say, “oh your name is so beautiful” or “that’s a really neat name I can remember that”, but you would be surprised how many people forget my name. My parents always thought that Savannah, GA was beautiful, so hence the creation of my name. My middle name was past down from my grandmother to my mom. The only strategy that I did not relate to was making a list of things to write about. I do understand that this helps a good number of students collect their ideas and thus making writing easier. But I was that child that making list, bubble maps, or Venn diagrams did not work for. I enjoy to just jumping in and writing and have the thoughts flow out of me. The main problem with that is that I tend to jump around to different topics. My brother is someone that needs a list. He needs to be able to cross something of a list in order to feel like he is on the right track and making progress. I found this section of the book very helpful as far as motivating your students to write.
p.s. Did you catch the sunset tonight. A beautiful blend of purple and pink with the outline of the mountains. Just in case you did not, here is a picture from my porch.

Oh Thank you
What a beautiful sunset. And I am out on my porch writing this comment. First of all, you are ahead on one of our assignments…you will find out in class tomorrow. Secondly, think about jotting those lists down and see what happens
Next, I appreciate your comments about you “jumping around” when writing. Here is a strategy for you: Draw, Label, Caption. Draw a picture of something you want to write. Label different aspects of the picture and then write a caption. See where that may take you. Hey Savannah, you may even want to start with your photo of the sunset
Ask me about this strategy tomorrow. I enjoyed your post; you highlight the beauty of blogs…SHARING AND PUBLISHING…and IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION.
